Looking for ways your company can be eco-friendly?
Here are a few easy tips that can make a difference.
- Recycle paper, glass & plastics.
- Print on both sides of paper in the copier.
- Don’t use disposable plates, napkins and plastic utensils.
- Use reuseable plastic containers in lunch boxes, instead of sandwich bags.
- Take your own bag to the store.
- Look for products with less packaging.
- Buy organic and local.
- Don’t buy bottled water if tap water is safe, or use a water filter.
- Buy energy-efficient appliances.
- Use energy-saving light bulbs.
- Drive an energy-efficient car and walk or bike to work whenever possible.
- Install a programmable thermostat. Winter temps should be around 68 degrees F, and 60 degrees F or less while you're gone.
- Consider using a laptop instead of a desktop PC.
- Do not buy a bigger monitor than you need.
- Set your computer to go into sleep mode when not in use.
- Turn off computer and peripherals at power strip so that transformers do not continue drawing power even when “off.”
- Turn off printers and copiers when not in use, they consume considerable energy even in standby.
- Use recycled paper for writing and printing.
- Use washable coffee mugs.
- Use cloth napkins, or recycled paper napkins.
- Avoid clothing produced in sweat shops around the world.
Women and children deserve fair labor practices.
- Print with soy inks for large runs of catalogs, magazines, etc.
- Use Eco-friendly cleaning products, they cost the same!
